August 26, 2009

This past year one of my best friends Meaghan went on exchange to Holland. It is great to have her back in Canada and back from camp also. Tonight we actually got to spend some time together and I realise how much she has grown over this past year and this past summer. She is amazing and God is using her in spectacular ways. I truly enjoyed getting to hang out and catch up. This is a picture of some wooden shoes she got on her trip.

The countdown is on and there are 11 days until I go back to school. I started packing today and I went to pick up what I thought was an empty box and it turns out my cat had actually snuck into it. I think it was is way of telling me to take him with me.

This is a very deep and phylosophical photograph delving into the issue of real vs. fake people which is ever so cleverly represented by a real and fake apple.
Actually, seriously, I've been thinking a lot about how as humans we are often very fake with each other. Even when I took this picture I thought about how I would come up with this elaborate meaning about it's significance. Truth is, we have glass fruit on our kitchen table and I thought the glass vs real would probably look cool next to one another (and also I had yet to take a picture today and I was scrounging).
So there it is. Now would you have preffered the elaborate and composed fake story, or the truth?

If you look at it logically, time would definitely travel backwards on this clock....assuming the hands went clockwise. Secret to time travel? Who knows!

This cute and slightly overweight male Cat is my baby, Zazou. I came in to my room today and could not help but take his picture becuase he jsut looked so cute all sprawled out in my laundry basket.

Tonight was SO much fun. I took a trip out ot Turtle Creek and took some photos of Ashley and her beautiful horse. It was great to do a photo session that was a little more of a challenge(since horses don't really do what I tell them too). I had a wonderful time and I think you will be very happy with how the photos turned out Ashley!

What could be better then a spa day with your sister? hhmmmm a spa day with your sister without the spa day fees. Today my sister and I did a spa day with all stuff we already had at home (after the trip to the grocery store). It was such a great time. :)

August 19, 2009

Since I am leaving for school in a few weeks my sister and I decided to take a picture together. This photoshoot did not last very long because the bugs were awful and of course we didn't put on any bug spray. We did manage to get a few pictures together, this one included.

August 18, 2009

Sometimes it is really hard to find something to take a picture of. I don't think this is one of my best shots by any means but this is the view from my window jsut before I went to sleep tonight.

August 17, 2009

Today at my church there was a drama camp for kids. I got to take the kids "acting headshots" but also did some more fun pictures with the kids. This was one of them.

August 16, 2009

Tonight my sister and I had a sleepover in her room. It was getting pretty late and I realised I has yet to take a picture for the day. After much convincing she finally let me take one. Isn't she beautiful?

August 15, 2009

I have always wanted to take a picture of a hand holding the world so today I did.

August 14, 2009

Today my mother, my sister and I went to visit my Grampi and it was really great to see him. :) On the drive home I snapped some pictures from the window of the car. I really like how this one turned out and I think the black & white really suits the picture.

August 13, 2009

On my laptop in my picture folder, there is a whole subfolder dedicated to the times such as tonight where I made whoever I was driving with stop the vehicle so I could take a picture. Tonight we were out for a drive and I saw this bridge in the distance and I asked my mom to go that direction.
This bridge reminds me of the old Guningsville bridge that used to be in Riverview but got torn down recently. I really like bridges like this. They are very pretty.

I went to the beach again tonight with my family. The beach we have gone to the past few times is about a hour drive away from our house. I may not be the best navigator, but in the past year or so I would say that I have dropped my title of being "directionally challenged." That title has been officially passed on to my mom.
On our way home I did however forget to tell her where to turn to get back on the highway and we ended up mssing our exit. It all worked out in the end when I got a glimpse of this view and got out of the car to take a picture. It was such a peaceful view.

August 11, 2009

I learned something today. Something incredibly fascinating and exciting and spectacular. Well not really. Ok not at all. But I did take my dogs to the dog park today and talked to some people...and to some dogs. This one was particularily friendly and incredibly cute. I just love dogs. :)

August 10, 2009

I am fascinated by sunsets. To quote my mother, "I have enough sunset pictures to last me a lifetime." Whenever I see a sunset I can't help but want to capture it with my camera. Funny thing is, I find sunsets to be one of the things cameras often fail to do justice. Nonetheless, today's picture is of a sunset, in honor of my mom teasing me about my compusive sunset snapping.

August 9, 2009

I took this picture this morning just before a wonderful breakfast before heading back to Riverview. This is Sarah, Harry's younger daughter who also happens to be incredibly cute. They both have such big beautiful eyes. It's official I think their whole family is great!

Yes you are seeing correct. This is another post featuring the likes of another adorable little girl. Tonight I spent the night working at Harry's Pizza and my options for photography naturally included Harry, Pizza and his adorable daughter. Sorry Harry, and sorry to your deliciously amazing pizza, but your daughter outranks you on the cute scale.
I had such a great time hanging out with you and your wonderful family and as per usual it never really seems like work. As promised it was quite the adventure and was well worth it.

August 7, 2009

One of my very favorite things to do is cook for other people. I love the whole concept of making something with my own hands that people can enjoy. I guess the whole purpose is to try and make people feel appreciated and in some small way maybe brighten their day. That is why I love it so much and that is what makes all the time very much worth it.
Tonight I baked 4 cheesecakes and I plan on giving 3 away in the morning to 3 very deserving people.

August 6, 2009

I don't think I have ever looked forward to babysitting as much as I did today. This girl is so incredibly adorable and definitely such a character. Rumor has it she talks about me quite a bit and there have been several occasions when her parents have introduced me to people as "The Stephanie that Eva talks about all the time." Every single time people say that I was not quite who they expected Stephanie to be. They all assumed that I would be Eva's age.
I love being around kids, they understand so many things we forget as adults. Kids really know about things like unconditional love, trust, innocence and they have such a pure and untampered view of the world. It is truly incredibly to witness these things through the words and actions of children.
So I kind of cheated with this picture. I did take many pictures of Eva today but this one I took a few days ago. I just loved it so much and haden't gotten to share it yet.

August 5, 2009

I had no clue what I should take a picture of today so I decided to go for a bike ride in search of something photo worthy. I ended up heading to a trail close to my house of which I have frequented many times with my camera. Today I decided to take a different trail then normal and when I came to the first puddle I was not to be dissaded and drove right through it. Following the first small puddle where several larger puddles and A LOT of mud. It was then that the brilliant idea struck me....Mud biking! This was one of the funest things I have done in awhile. I took the first picture in front of a puddle I had just crossed. The mud was so thick at the bottom that my bike and flip flops got stuck and I had to pry them out and throw them to "safety."
After all this excitement I was a little bit dirty and decided I was in need of a self-portrait as proof. Since I was alone and without a tripod I ended up hanging my camera from a tree (in a very safe and secure location of course!).

Tonight we took the dogs to the beach for the first time ever. This is my dog Zeus who before today had never been in the water. He loved it and my sister loved playing with him too!

August 3, 2009

Recently I have discovered how incredibly peaceful it is to walk in the dead of night. It has become what is most often my favorite part of my day. Sometimes when I work late I end up taking my walk at around 3am. Tonight was one of those nights I had the intention of taking a picture that somehow would remind me of how much I loved these walks and time alone with God. I tried to take a picture of this street light but my camera settings where set to a long exposure and I knew right away that the picture would not turn out how I wanted. I was quite surprised, however, to find this image looking back at me on my camera screen. Somehow when I was moving the camera during it's process of taking the picture it managed to form a perfect heart light trail in the very corner. This definitely captures the emotion I set out to record. Thank you God for your love and peace that trancends all understanding.

August 2, 2009

Tonight I went for a bike ride to visit my best friend. The bike ride there was great and mostly downhill, the kind of biking I like. This view is one of my favorites in my hometown so I stopped to snap a picture.
It was great to see my friend and catch up. It seems like there is rarely time to just to hang out, just because.

August 1, 2009

Today I got my hair cut and dyed. When I got home the sun was still shining and I couldn't help but put on my favorite dress and venture into the woods for some photos.
Needless to say, takings self-portraits is no easy task. Eventually I got the camera focused properly and managed to only be partially eaten alive by the mosquitos. Mental note: never ever go in the woods again without bug spray.
